Each ring there are usually two writers, one for tracking the position on a large blackboard and one for the position paper. A carved ring means a vertical line, a lost ring a horizontal line. The double letter also prevents errors occur when counting the rings inserted per participant.
Then there's the end of the trail a collective board where one or two writers write the total state per participant of each round. The participants give themselves at the end of the round by how many rings they have put on the move. Incidentally, this number at the end of the day is also controlled to the state that the authors have written at any ring. Fraud by the participating couples is not possible.
